About WAVE

AT WAVE Foundation

Women Against Violence & Exploitation Foundation Africa (WAVE) is a registered non-profit, non-political organization established under Nigerian law (CAC/IT/NO-90075/2016). We are dedicated to advancing social justice and promoting the rights and well-being of women and girls across Africa.

Our mission is to empower women and girls mentally, economically, politically, and psychologically through civic engagement, education, health initiatives, and environmental programs. We focus on issues including gender-based violence, equitable access to healthcare and education, and climate action led by women.

Since 2021, WAVE has held Special Consultative Status with the United Nations ECOSOC and actively participates in global platforms such as CSW, UNGA, HLPF, and the World Bank and IMF meetings. We’ve contributed to major events worldwide, including the UN Civil Society Conference in Kenya, where our President chaired the Exhibits Sub-Committee, engaging organizations from 140 countries.

Currently, WAVE is leading a Student-Led Global AI Learning Initiative featuring Writing Mastery, a multi-sensory English platform created by a 15-year-old in New Jersey. Writing Mastery is improving learning outcomes in the U.S., Malawi, Nigeria, Ghana, and Ecuador, and is partnering this summer with the Childhood Cancer Society to help hospitalized children stay academically connected. With over 90% of children under 10 in Sub-Saharan Africa lacking basic reading skills, our work seeks innovative solutions to close learning gaps and transform education globally.

In Nigeria, WAVE partners with The Office of The Speaker-House of Representatives, UNFPA, UN Women, NTA International, Radio Nigeria, News Agency of Nigeria, Leadway Assurance, and various government ministries, leading policy advocacy and community outreach.

Our vision is a just and inclusive society where all people enjoy equal rights, opportunities, and dignity.

Our Core Values:
  1. Transparency and accountability
  2. Integrity
  3. Transformative change
  4. Feminism
  5. Diversity
